So once again you have just come after giving a job interview thinking that you did it best as you could and the recruiter was also quite impressed by you . And you waited for that job recruitment call and you waited just waited . No call came. And still now you can’t figure out why were you not selected .
Professionals say that the recruiters select on cases of how the candidate behaves including non-verbal cues and body language like nail biting , playing with pen , avoiding an eye contact with the interviewer. It might be difficult to judge some personality some minutes but still you can work upon yourself to be the best in those 20 minutes .
1. DOING YOUR HOMEWORK RIGHT
Knowing about the company’ brief history , its goals , administration shows that you’re interested for this job and believe in the company’s vision can be a game changer for you . Also , knowing about the interview panel will help you to prepare yourself about the kind of expertise they’ll gonna look for you .
They may say that your job profile only should say all . But it’s important how you look and carry yourself comfortably .
Women must go for natural make up , a semi formal clothing , decent footwear with minimalist accessories while men should opt for a well fitted formal shirts and trousers with polished shoes.
3. AUTHENTIC AND UPDATED RESUME
It’s always suggested that you carry an authentic resume which is updated as well. Make sure it has correct dates , details of the work experience , responsibilities , position status etc. Have a copy of it too in case recruiter wants to have it .
4. KNOW YOURSELF FIRST
The most frequently asked questions in an interview deals with your strengths and weaknesses or you faith / vision where do you see yourself in the coming 5 years . Prepare them well in advance, avoid thinking on the spot as you may commit mistakes and regret later. Knowing yourself , analyzing your mistakes earlier and answering them will give a good impression .
5. BE SPECIFIC WHILE GIVING YOUR INTERVIEW
Your recruiter will always probe for specific information . Answering about your previous achievements , leadership skills and other experience in an exaggerated way is a big No . Answer to what is being asked . Even if a hypothetical situation is given to you , try to answer relating to your real life example . For ex. You are asked about how to manage in a particular given crisis situation , there you must answer by telling how you managed previous similar situation.
6. DISAGREE WITH RESPECT
There may be times that you are not satisfied to what yuour interviewer is saying . In that case , its advisable that you keep your logical viewpoints in front of them with full respect towards them . In this process , never interrupt any recruiter in between to what he’s saying .Being a good listener is always advisable.
7.SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE / IDEAS
Your task is to answer the questions being asked but it’s just not wrong to share your ideas and ask your questions to the interviewer himself. You can probably share an article you read recently related to your expertise .But , DO NOT FAKE. Even after the interview is over , you may ask for their contact number , e-mail or their LinkedIn profiles to get in touch .
